How We Use Your Personal Information

Driver information is used for several important purposes when shipping loads, especially in freight, logistics, and transportation industries. Here’s a breakdown of what it's typically used for:

1. Compliance and Regulatory Requirements

  • DOT (Department of Transportation) Compliance: Driver name, license number, and CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) information ensure the driver meets federal and state legal requirements.

  • Hours of Service (HOS) Tracking: Used to monitor driver hours and avoid violations of rest requirements.

2. Security and Verification

  • Identity Verification: Shippers and receivers often verify driver identity before loading or unloading.

  • Load Security: Helps prevent cargo theft or fraudulent pickups by verifying authorized personnel.

3. Communication and Coordination

  • Load Updates: Enables dispatchers to contact drivers for real-time updates or rerouting.

  • Delivery Instructions: Ensures drivers have access to details like gate codes, contacts at delivery, or special instructions.

4. Tracking and Monitoring

  • Telematics Integration: Driver info is tied to GPS systems and ELDs (Electronic Logging Devices) for load tracking.

  • Performance Monitoring: Helps assess driver performance, fuel efficiency, and adherence to route.

5. Documentation

  • Bill of Lading (BOL): Often includes driver info for record-keeping and signatures.

  • Proof of Delivery (POD): Captures who completed the delivery.

6. Insurance and Liability

  • In Case of Accident or Claim: Having accurate driver info is vital for claims processing and determining liability.
